About Us
Who We Are
We are a group of neighbors from the Sonninpark quarter in Hamburg-St. Georg (Nagelsweg / Sonninstraße). Our common goal: a safe, clean and liveable residential environment for all residents.
Why This Initiative?
Our neighborhood is a wonderful place to live – centrally located, with a large park right at our doorstep, good infrastructure and a diverse community. But like many urban residential areas, there are challenges:
- Safety: Incidents in stairwells and outdoor areas, particularly during nighttime hours
- Cleanliness: Pollution in shared areas and in the park
- Organization: Lack of structures for neighborhood engagement
Our Principles
- No confrontation: We are not a vigilante group. We rely on presence, awareness and communication.
- In pairs when possible: We recommend going in pairs when possible – but this is not mandatory.
- Police in case of danger: In acute dangerous situations, we call the police (110) or emergency services (112).
- Mutual respect: We respect all people in our neighborhood and always act thoughtfully.
- Transparency: Our organization is transparent and democratically structured.
What We Do
- Neighborhood walks: Regular, short rounds through the quarter – calm, unobtrusive, attentive
- Communication: Exchange with property management, the existing security service and, if needed, with police
- Community: Building a trusting neighborhood that looks out for each other
- Professional support: Evaluation of professional security services to complement our voluntary activities
